 Abstract:
Today there is a definite trend towards growing use of corrosion resistant cored wires in the oil & gas industries. Within this industry bismuth free wires are increasingly required, including for application at temperatures not exceeding 400°C. We here give examples of recent applications where a new generation of Bi-free wires is used for welding and cladding. This includes most of the austenitic stainless steel compositions that are used as well for heat as for corrosion resisting application. Recent application also concerns cored wires for submerged arc welding, more particularly grades 308H, 347 and 347H.
Nickel based wires of the NiCr, NiCrFe, NiCrMo and NiCu types follow the trend, Practical examples illustrate their use.
