 Abstract:
A CoFeNi-based brazing filler alloy was designed for the dissimilar joining of TiAl to a cast Ni-based superalloy. It was fabricated into filler foils and the brazing experiments were conducted at 1453K for 10min. There exist great difference in chemical compositions between the TiAl and the cast Ni-based superalloy, but sound joint were achieved using the newly-developed filler alloy. The microstructure of the dissimilar joint was examined with SEM and XEDS. Shear strengths for the brazed joints were tested at room temperature and high temperature. Complicated reaction structures were detected at the joining interface, but the joints exhibited shear strength of over 260 MPa not only at room temperature but also at 750oC. The joining mechanism was discussed.
