 Title:
Machine Vision Guided robotic welding

 Abstract:
Robotic welding has been used for almost thirty years with success in the metal industry. Shipyards have been using robotic welding since the mid-eighties. Because of one-of-a kind production, there has been a need from the start for flexible and fast programming methods. So far this challenge has been answered by off-line programming. A number of cases and trials during past years have shown the negative sides, vulnerability and demands of those systems. Only a couple of the systems can be considered to be running as planned and even then the price of the generated welds is far higher than expected. The need for one easy-to-use, effective and straightforward programming method was still there. As an answer, the Machine Vision Aided macro programming method was developed and introduced to production with revolutionary results.
